Add a Booking Widget to Your Website in 5 Minutes

Your website should be doing more work for you than it probably is right now. If the only thing a guest can do on your site is look at your menu and find your address, you are missing the most important conversion: getting them to actually book.

Adding a booking widget to your website takes five minutes with Plattr. Here is exactly how it works.

Restaurant booking widget embedded on website

What the widget does

The Plattr booking widget is a small piece of embed code that you paste into any page on your website. Once added, guests can select a date, time, and party size without leaving your site. The booking goes directly into your Plattr dashboard. Confirmations and reminders go out automatically. Your staff sees the reservation exactly as they would see any other booking.

From the guest side, it feels native to your site — your branding, your colors, your restaurant's name. From the backend, it is fully managed by Plattr. You do not need to build anything or maintain anything.

Getting the embed code

Log into your Plattr dashboard. Go to Bookings, then Booking Page settings. You will find two things there: your dedicated booking URL (more on that below) and your widget embed code.

The embed code looks like this:

<iframe src="https://booking.plattr.me/your-restaurant" width="100%" height="600" frameborder="0"></iframe>

Paste this wherever you want the widget to appear. Most restaurants put it on a dedicated "Reservations" page, but you can also embed it directly on the homepage or in a modal that opens when guests click a booking button.

Your dedicated booking page

Every Plattr restaurant gets a dedicated booking URL at a subdomain you control: booking.plattr.me/your-restaurant. This page works independently of your website and is fully functional on its own. You can link to it from Google Business Profile, Instagram bio, email newsletters, and anywhere else that does not support embeds.

For restaurants that want full control over the URL, Plattr supports custom domains. If you want your booking page to live at book.yourrestaurant.com, that is configurable in the dashboard with a simple DNS record pointing to Plattr's servers. No developer needed.

Configuring your booking settings

Before the widget goes live, spend ten minutes on your booking configuration. The settings that matter most:

Tables and capacity. Add each table or seating area with its capacity. Plattr uses this to prevent overbooking. A table for two can only take a party of two; a table for six can take parties of two to six. You can also group tables ("Restaurant floor", "Terrace") for different availability rules. For the full breakdown on managing walk-ins alongside reservations, see the walk-ins vs reservations guide.

Time slots. Set your available booking windows. Most restaurants use 15 or 30 minute increments. You can set different availability for lunch and dinner, different rules for weekdays versus weekends, and block out times for private events or kitchen downtime.

Advance booking limits. How far in advance can guests book? How close to service time? A common setup is "bookable from 3 months ahead, up to 2 hours before the slot." You set the window and Plattr enforces it automatically.

Deposits. If you want to reduce no-shows, require a deposit at booking. Guests pay when they book; you collect automatically through Plattr's payment integration. If they cancel within your policy window, the deposit refunds automatically. Outside the window, you keep it. The no-show reduction guide covers deposit strategies in detail.

Confirmation and reminder automation

Every booking triggers an automatic confirmation email to the guest. You can customize the text in the Plattr dashboard — add parking instructions, your cancellation policy, a note about dress code, whatever your restaurant needs.

Plattr also sends reminder messages before the booking: typically 24 hours out and 2 hours out, both configurable. These reminders alone reduce no-shows significantly. Guests who confirmed but would have forgotten get a nudge at exactly the right moment.

This connects to the broader automation capabilities in Plattr that save restaurant teams hours of manual communication every week.

Connecting booking to loyalty

When a guest books through your Plattr widget, Plattr checks whether they are already a loyalty member. If they are, their visit gets logged automatically. If they are not, the post-visit follow-up email can invite them to join.

This is how the pieces connect: a guest finds you through the Plattr Guide, books through your widget, earns their first stamp at the visit, and gets a follow-up email the next day. Each step moves them closer to being a regular without requiring manual work from your team.

Adding the widget to common platforms

WordPress: Use a Custom HTML block and paste the embed code. Works in any page or post, including the homepage.

Squarespace: Add an Embed block and paste the code. Same approach.

Wix: Use the HTML iframe embed element and paste the code.

Webflow: Add an Embed component to any page.

If your site is custom-built, the embed code is standard HTML and will work in any web context. If you do not yet have a website, the free restaurant website guide covers your options for getting one live quickly.

Testing before you go live

After adding the widget, make a test booking with a future date. Verify it appears in your Plattr dashboard as expected, that the confirmation email arrives, and that your table count reflects the booking. This takes three minutes and catches any configuration issues before real guests see the form.

Once it is live, announce it. Update your Google Business Profile with your booking link. Add it to your Instagram bio. Put it in your email footer. The widget only generates bookings if guests know it exists.

If you are not yet on Plattr, the booking widget is included on all plans. Start a trial and you can have a live booking page today. Check the plan comparison for the full feature list by tier.
