QR Table Ordering — How to Increase Average Check by 15-20%
When guests order from their phone, they browse more, add extras, and spend more. QR table ordering turns your menu into a silent upselling machine.

A waiter standing at a table creates time pressure. Guests order what they already know, skip the appetizer, skip dessert. When they order from their phone at their own pace, the dynamic changes completely. They browse, they discover dishes they didn't know existed, they add that side dish, that extra drink.
How QR table ordering works
Each table has a QR code. Guests scan it with their phone camera and your digital menu opens. They browse categories, see photos and descriptions, check allergens, and add items to their order. When ready, they submit. The order goes to your kitchen.
Plattr's QR table ordering is part of the Small plan (EUR 59/month). It works with your existing Classic Menu, the same one you use for your public menu link and Guide listing.
Why average check increases
Three factors drive the increase. First, no rush. Guests who browse at their own pace spend more. They see that appetizer they might have skipped, they notice the dessert section, they spot a cocktail they want to try.
Second, visual selling. Photos of dishes sell better than verbal descriptions. A photo of your tiramisu does more than a waiter saying "we have tiramisu." On the Swipe Menu (Plus plan), short videos make this even more effective.
Third, repeat ordering. Ordering another round of drinks requires flagging down a waiter. With QR ordering, the guest taps "add" and it's done. Lower friction = more orders.
Staff efficiency, not staff replacement
QR ordering doesn't replace waiters. It frees them from order-taking so they can focus on service: welcoming guests, checking on tables, handling special requests. A waiter who spends 30% less time taking orders can give 30% more attention to hospitality.
For busy periods, QR ordering acts as a pressure release valve. Instead of guests waiting 10 minutes to place an order, they order immediately. Kitchen gets orders faster, food comes out faster, tables turn faster.

Table-specific QR codes
Each table gets its own unique QR code. When a guest scans it, the system knows which table the order is coming from. This means orders arrive in the kitchen tagged with the table number. No confusion about where food goes. For restaurants with indoor and outdoor sections, or multiple floors, this eliminates a common source of errors.
Printing QR codes is simple. Plattr generates printable QR cards for each table. You can print them on card stock and place them in table-top holders, or incorporate them into your table design. Some restaurants engrave QR codes into wooden table markers. The format is flexible because the underlying link never changes.
Handling special requests and modifications
QR ordering supports item notes and modifications. Guests can add notes like "no onions" or "extra spicy" directly in the app. These notes appear on the order ticket in the kitchen. This reduces miscommunication compared to verbal orders passed through a waiter, especially for modifications involving allergies or dietary restrictions.
